What's it about: An explanation about a very simple thought experiment that shows that learning new words requires some sort of assumption.
Comments: This is a short, smart read. Linguistics doesn't really sound like the most interesting of disciplines, but this article gets you hooked. Also contains links to an ongoing language experiment.
